PowerMyLearning is a national non-profit organization committed to ensuring that all children are able to power their learning through a combination of technology and the people who matter most to their success – parents and teachers. Their mission is to help students in low-income communities, together with their teachers and families, harness the power of digital learning to improve educational outcomes. In New York City, PowerMyLearning has partnered with more than 100 schools and served more than 100,000 students, parents, and teachers since 1999.
PowerMyLearning’s programs foster growth in teachers as instructional leaders, in parents as support partners, and in students as learners who can meet the challenge of high academic standards. This is accomplished through a combination of professional development and family engagement services. As a result, educators integrate new instructional approaches to personalize learning and deepen school-home connections, and parents become stronger learning partners for their children. Families also receive free home learning center computers loaded with educational software. This comprehensive approach helps students take full ownership of their learning and puts them on the path to academic and lifelong success.
PowerMyLearning’s work has demonstrated impact on student achievement and love of learning; teacher instructional practices; and parental confidence. PowerMyLearning partner schools show greater improvement in academic proficiency compared to schools with similar profiles. Learn more about their impact here.
